What happens if we disappear
You are being asked to put an include in your DNS that points at someone else's domain. That is a real dependency, and pretending otherwise would be insulting. Here is exactly how you get out of it.

Your original record is kept, permanently
The first time we analyze a domain, we store the SPF record it published before we touched anything. We never overwrite it and we never delete it — not when you change providers, not when you downgrade, not when you close your account. It is on the domain's page in your dashboard, and you can copy it back at any moment.
That is the whole recovery procedure. Replace the include we gave you with the record you had, and you are where you started. It takes about thirty seconds and nothing of ours is involved.
If you cancel
The records we publish for you stay live for 30 days after a cancellation or downgrade, and your domains go read-only. That window exists so your mail keeps flowing while you move the record back. We do not withdraw a record the moment a payment fails: breaking someone's mail over a billing question is the wrong answer, commercially as well as ethically.
If we go away
If this service shut down tomorrow, your own DNS would still contain a single include pointing at a hostname under our domain. While that hostname resolves, nothing changes for you. When it stops resolving, receivers treat the include as a void lookup — your other mechanisms still apply, and mail from senders listed elsewhere in your record still passes.
We would give notice and keep the zone answering for as long as we could. But you should not have to take that on trust, which is why the paragraph above matters more than this one: the record you need is already in your account, and it does not depend on us being around.
Getting your data out
Everything we hold about your domains — the original record, every version we published, the change history — is on the domain page and can be copied out. If you would rather have it as a file, write to privacy@flat-spf.com and we will send it.
